Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers):
Unleashing of Amazo on the world is the kind of moment where you know that everything is on the table. Tom Taylor has built a lot of things into this series since it got underway but lurking in the background is the grand plan that Ra’s has to clear the world of much of what ails it and seeing it start is pretty well done here. It also helps that we get Daniel Sampere on the art duties as he gets to work with a range of characters and some great sequences – and some humor – that just fits perfectly. It helps to connect the reader to the story more as some of the expressions here are just spot on and that draws you in more than the action itself does at times.

There’s a lot of good action going on in this installment considering the scale of threat they face. In the brief time that Amazo has been running amuck in New Dehli, five minutes, he’s killed twenty-three thousand people. That has Batman naturally taking the lead here but splitting the group up so that the heavy hitters go against him while the rest are on evac duty. It’s something that Oliver gets frustrated about, naturally so, but it’s so the wrong time even for Ollie with what they’re facing. Even Harley shuts it all down between them quickly so they can actually get on with it. It helps that we get in some additional power players like Superboy. Wonder Girl, Starfire, and Steel to deal with everything, though they can make only so much headway against what’s generally been put into stories essentially an indestructible weapon.

The fun comes in the smaller parts for me, with some of the rescue efforts and dealing with the panic. Having Barry Allen show up when he’s not supposed to use his powers is spot on perfect as an acceptable use of them by doing the rescue work from collapsing buildings, though one imagines he’d have some options going up against Amazo. We also get to see Oliver doing his thing in trying to take a whack at Amazo but this comes across as incredibly reckless in a lot of ways to me, especially as the initial response had me wondering if he and Dinah were killed. Her reaction is just perfect and you know he’s going to get a talking to later. It’s a solid opening round for a fight that should be difficult even with the best and brightest there, which we don’t have, but getting Diana at the end just makes me grin as it’s going to shake things up big time soon enough.

In Summary:
Hopefully, this fight won’t wrap up too quickly and we see some difficult choices ahead and some actual fallout and characters eliminated, because that’s half the draw of a series like Injustice 2. This issue puts a lot of people on the board in going up against Amazo and it’s a good bit of fun through and through, both in character interactions and the action elements itself. Taylor has been firing on all cylinders for just about this entire run and it’s building well and Daniel Sampere is one of the solid and strong artists on the rotation, so it pays off here with the big moments for both sides of the coin. At the end it does what it should – leaves me waiting anxiously for more.
