With the fall 2017 anime series Inuyashiki out from Anime Strike previously, the focus has shifted to the upcoming live-action film. We got a brief teaser back in December 2017 and now as we’re getting closer to the April 20th, 2018 release of the film we have the first full formal trailer. It clocks in at 90-seconds and plays hard and heavy to the theme song “Take Me Under” from MAN WITH A MISSION that was also involved in the anime adaptation of the manga. The film is directed by Shinsuke Sato and stars:

  • Noritake Kinashi as Ichiro Inuyashiki
  • Takeru Satoh as Hiro Shishigami
  • Kanata Hongo as Naoyuki Ando
  • Fumi Nikaido as Shion Watanabe
  • Ayaka Miyoshi as Mari Inuyashiki
  • Nayuta Fukuzaki as Takeshi Inuyashiki
  • Mari Hamada as Marie Inuyashiki
  • Yuki Saito as Yuko Shishigami
  • Yusuke Iseya as Detective Hagihara

The anime set Keiichi Satou as the chief director with Shuhei Yabuta serving as the hands-on director at MAPPA. Hiroshi Seko is on board for the series composition and Naoyuki Onda handled the character design.

The Japanese cast includes Fumiyo Kohinata as Ichirō Inuyashiki, Nijirō Murakami as Hiro Shishigami, Sumire Uesaka as Mari Inuyashiki, and Sumire Moroboshi as Shion Watanabe.

Kodansha Comics is releasing the manga in print and digital form with Crunchyroll also doing some simulpub work on it.

Plot Concept: Ichiro Inuyashiki is down on his luck. While only 58 years old, his geriatric looks often have him written off as a pathetic old man by the world around him and he’s constantly ignored and disrespected by his family despite all that he’s done to support them. On top of everything else, his doctor has revealed that he has cancer and it appears that he has little time left in this world. But just when it seems things couldn’t get any worse, a blinding light in the night sky strikes the earth where Ichiro stands. He later wakes up to find himself unscathed, but he soon starts to notice that there’s something…different about himself.
