Tsuna finally faces Xanxus in the Ring battle! While they trade blows, Xanxus shows off the power of his Flames of Rage, the very ability possessed by the 2nd Generation boss of the Vongola. Tsuna soon discovers that Xanxus has brought a lot more to the party and is pummeled by attack after attack. Tsuna’s friends, meanwhile, pass the Storm Ring around in an attempt to protect Lambo from the renewed fury of Leviathan!

Apart from the tournament still going on at the end of the book, there’s not much else I can complain about. There’s a lot happening and it’s happening fast. If you came in wanting fights, then fights you get, and plenty of ’em. Tsuna’s match features prominently, of course, as it was carried over from the previous volume, but the spectators aren’t allowed to just stand by and watch like they usually are. While Tusna fights for his life, the sidelines erupt with their own impromptu attacks and counterattacks.
No, those pesky Varia aren’t going to play fair. That means they’re going after the rings possessed by the Vongola fighters, so Tsuna’s friends have their work cut out for them. Practically the entire page count is taken up with one fight or another, or several fights all going on at once. It’s by far the most action-packed volume of Reborn! yet. Take a deep breath going in: you won’t get another chance to breathe until a brief flashback near the end.
In Summary:
The series has been a fast ride for the last few volumes, and I’m about ready to stop the roller-coaster and get back to some other ways of having fun. But I have to say, this whole tournament angle has been handled pretty well. Amano knows how to keep his excitement building. But he also knows how to be funny, and I’d like a refresher for that starting with volume 16.
The lone extra this time is an introduction to the Varia family.
