AnimeLab has another piece of the puzzle for the winter 2018 anime simulcast lineup for Australian audiences as they’ve announced that they’ll be handling the Pop Team Epic show, which further cements that this is a real and true series that’s actually happening.
They haven’t given a premiere date or time yet but the show is scheduled for a January 6th, 2018 premiere on Tokyo MX and BS-11 before moving onto other platforms over the next few days.
It’s animated by Kamikaze Douga with King Records producing it. The original work is a webmanga that began in 2014 as a four-panel project. The first series ended in late 2015 and a second kicked off in early 2016.
Plot Concept: The story centers around two girls called Popuko and Pipimi and uses lots of news topics in a surreal way.
