What They Say
The Art of Overwatch 9″ x 12″ Hardcover edition includes 300 pages of never-before-seen art by Blizzard as well as commentary provided by the game’s development team.

When it launched in May 2016, Overwatch took the world by storm, boasting millions of players and gaining critical acclaim. Now, in this beautiful hardcover, Blizzard Entertainment reveals the creative process behind one of the most popular FPS games of all time! Filled with never-before-seen art as well as commentary provided by the games development team, this book is sure to please any Overwatch fan!

Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers):
The book is nicely arranged with a foreword, a bit about the history of the game and then it systematically goes through each character in the game discussing the development of the character and the original ideas associated with that character. It then goes through all the environments, skins (including event skins), sprays, player icons, animated shorts, origin stories and finally promotional art. There is a fair amount of reading at the beginning, but as soon as the Hero bios start, the reading is very minimal.

In Summary
While I was given a digital copy to review, my youngest daughter, a daily Overwatch player, did purchase a physical copy. While the digital version was good, there was something really special about having the book in hand. This is a beautiful book to own even if you are not a player, like myself. It really has the feel of any story, comic or manga with all the worlds and backstories so carefully plotted and developed. I really like seeing how the original concept of the heroes transformed into the character that was actually produced. There really is something special about Overwatch and this art book is not an exception.
