As we close in on the upcoming anime series called Sanrio Danshi, aka Sanrio Boys, a few new things have arrived ahead of its January 6th, 2018 debut on Tokyo MX. One of those is a pretty good new promotional video for the series and the nod that there will be seven shorts produced for the project that won’t get included in the broadcast run. We’ve also got some new cast additions announced. Masashi Kudou directing it based on the composition by Takashi Aoshima. Atsuko Nakajima is handling the character designs while the animation is being produced by Studio Pierrot and Pierrot Plus.
The newly announced cast includes:
- Daisuke Kishio as Yamato Machida
Chihiro Suzuki as Tadashi Tsuchiya
Makoto Furukawa as Satoshi Matsuo
The previously announced Japanese cast includes:
- Takuya Eguchi as Kōta Hasegawa
- Sōma Saitō as Yū Mizuno
- Jun Oosuka as Shunsuke Yoshino
- Hiroyuki Kagura as Ryō Nishimiya
- Yūma Uchida as Seiichiro Minamoto
Plot Concept: The property follows Kōta Hasegawa, a high school boy that loves the yellow Pom Pom Purin dog. By mere coincidence, he ends up attending the same school as Yū Mizuno, a boy who likes the bunny My Melody. Yū tells Kōta that there’s nothing to be ashamed of for liking Sanrio’s cute characters. Together, Kōta, Yū, Shunsuke Yoshino, Ryō Nishimiya, and Seiichiro Minamoto learn to accept their love of the characters instead of feeling embarrassed.
