‘Black Butler II’ Anime Gets Crunchyroll Distribution

2 min read

Good news for fans of one hell of a butler as the Black Butler II anime series is now streaming on Crunchyroll thanks to their partnership with Funimation. The series is available in its original Japanese language with English subtitles while the dub remains on Funimation’s site. Since this is a bit of an older license that was picked up in a limited away originally, it’s availability is just for US and Canadian viewers.

The property comes from the manga Kuroshitsuji that began back in 2006 from Yana Toboso. The series is still ongoing with the twenty-five volumes out so far. Yen Press releases the series domestically while FUNimation has handled the anime localizations.

Original premise: In Victorian-era Europe, a young boy loses everything he once held near and dear to a vicious plot. In his moment of death, he strikes a deal with a demon: his soul, in exchange for revenge. Ciel Phantomhive is now the head of the Phantomhive corporation, handling all business affairs as well as the underground work for the Queen of England. His new partner is a demon butler, Sebastian Michaelis, whose powers as a butler is only surpassed by his strength as a demon.

The story follows the two along with their other servants, as they work to unravel the plot behind Ciel’s parents’ murder, and the horrendous tragedies that befell Ciel in the month directly after.
