The summer 2017 anime series Fastest Finger First is better known over the last few months as Nana Maru San Batsu and has a pretty standard home video release set for it. With the fourth volume coming out on December 6th, 2017, we now have a look at the main cover for it in a smaller than preferred size. Toei Animation is bringing the twelve episode series out over six discs that began on September 13th, 2017. The first disc is priced at 6,030 yen and 7,030 yen on DVD and Blu-ray respectively while remaining volumes are priced at 5,800 yen and 6,800 yen on DVD and Blu-ray.
Seiki Oozora is directing and working from the series composition by Yuuko Kakihara. Makoto Takahoko is on board as the character designer with TMS Entertainment handling the animation production.
The Japanese cast includes Shun Horie as Shiki Koshiyama, Umika Kawashima as Mari Fukami, Takuya Satō as Gakuto Sasajima, Kaito Ishikawa as Chisato Mikuriya, Takuya Satou as Gakuto Sasajima, Kaito Ishikawa as Chisato Mikuriya, Tasuku Hatanaka as Daisuke Inoue, Takuma Nagatsuka as Akira Sonohara and Satsumi Matsuda as Jinko Sasajima.
The title, which began in 2010, has thirteen volumes from Ikura Sugimoto.
Plot Concept: Bunzou High School is welcoming its new first-year students. One of them, Koshiyama Shiki, is chosen to participate against his will in an impromptu fast-buzzing quiz meet by the president of the Quiz Bowl Circle. As a quiet boy who loves reading and doesn’t want to stand out, Shiki is overwhelmed, but his classmate, Fukami Mari, is able to hit the buzzer and answer questions before the full question is given. “If you buzz after you know the answer, you’ll be too late. Fast buzzing can determine the winner by a margin of 0.01 seconds.” As he watches her, Shiki realizes that there’s a point in each question where the answer becomes certain. With fellow Quiz Bowl Circle members, Shiki meets the powerful rival Mikuriya Chisato, and experiences the joy of giving the correct answer as well as the frustration of being unable to buzz in. Koshiyama Shiki now devotes his youth to the world of competitive quiz bowl as he strives with his teammates to perfect not only his knowledge, but his technique.
