
While a lot of Madman’s releases for Australian have been coming up as DVD-only releases recently, it looks like one that will be getting a Blu-ray only release is the February 21st, 2018 debut of the first season of Tales of Zestiria the X. The set will be bilingual and have the first cour of the show which will be priced at $69.95 AUD when it arrives. Details for it are still being worked out.
Extras for both editions include the Episode 0 Commentary, Episode 3 Commentary, Dawn of the Shepherd, Promo Videos, Commercials, Episode 0 Unaired Preview, Episode 12 Unaired Preview, Season 2 Trailer, Textless Opening & Closing Songs, Trailers. The Limited Edition comes with a chipboard box with a specialty print, four art cards, and a digipak with new character artwork.
Animated by ufotable, the series was directed by Haruto Sotozaki with ufotable working the scripts. Akira Matsushima served as the character designs and FLOW performed the opening theme song Kaze no Uta.
The Japanese cast includes Ryouhei Kimura as Sorey, Ryota Ohsaka as Mikleo, Ai Kayano as Alisha, Mikako Komatsu as Rose, Misato Fukuen as Edna, Daisuke Ono as Dezel, Kenjirou Tsuda as Zaveid and Noriko Shitaya as Lailah.
The English cast includes Robbie Daymond as Sorey, Philip Lamont as Mikleo, Alexis Tipton as Alisha, Caitlin Glass as Rose, Ian Sinclair as Zaveid, Chris Niosi as Dezel, Christine Marie Cabanos as Symonne, T. Axelrod as Bartlow, Carrie Keranen as Lailah, Kira Buckland as Edna and Austin Tindle as Lunarre.
Plot concept: Sorey is a human youth who grew up among the “seraphim” (tenzoku), spiritual beings not visible to humans. Sorey believes in the folklore that says “long ago, every human was able to see the seraphim” and dreams of unraveling the ancient mystery to make the world a place where people and seraphim can live together in peace.One day, Sorey visits the human capital for the very first time. He becomes embroiled in an incident during which he pulls out a holy sword imbedded in a rock and ends up becoming a “Shepherd,” one who casts away calamity from the world. He begins to realize the gravity of his mission, and his dream of coexistence between mankind and the seraphim becomes more intense. And thus, the Shepherd embarks on an amazing journey with his companions.
