The Japanese home video release for The Irregular at Magic High School: The Girl Who Summons the Stars has been set by Aniplex Japan with a January 24th, 2018 date. The film has four editions coming out with regular and limited editions on both DVD and Blu-ray where the regular editions are priced at 4,800 and 5,800 yen respectively and the limited editions at 7,800 and 8,800 yen respectively. Extras for the limited editions include the promos and commercials on disc as well as an audio commentary. The release also comes with a bonus CD of music.
The light novel series this is based on has done well since its introduction in the summer of 2011 as there are twenty-two volumes of it so far. The anime adaptation was on the fast track as part of Dengeki Bunko’s 20th-anniversary push to bring more of its materials into the spotlight. The series was directed by Ono Manabu with character designs by Ishida Kana. Animation was produced by Madhouse.
The Japanese cast includes Yūichi Nakamura as Tatsuya Shiba, Saori Hayami as Miyuki Shiba, Marina Inoue as Erika Chiba, Takuma Terashima as Leonhart Saijo, Satomi Satou as Mizuki Shibata, Atsushi Tamaru as Mikihiko Yoshida, Sora Amamiya as Honoka Mitsui, Yuiko Tatsumi as Shizuku Kitayama, Kana Hanazawa as Mayumi Saegusa, Marina Inoue as Mari Watanabe, Junichi Suwabe as Katsuto Jumonji,Yoko Hikasa as Angelina Kudo Shields and Konomi Kohara as Kokoa.

The “Bloom,” who demonstrate the highest grades and are enrolled in the “First Course,” and the “Weed,” who have a poor academic record and are enrolled in the “Second Course.” This spring, a very peculiar brother and sister enroll as new students. The brother is an underachiever with some deficiencies and enrolls as a “Weed,” while his younger sister is an honor student, who enrolls as a “Bloom.” The brother, with a somewhat philosophical expression, and the younger sister who holds feelings a little stronger than sibling love for him… Ever since these two have entered through the gates of this prestigious school, the calm campus was beginning to change…
