Japanese ‘Youkai Apartment no Yuuga na Nichijou’ Anime DVD/BD Box Sets Scheduled

The summer and fall 2017 anime series Youkai Apartment no Yuuga na Nichijou has its home video release plans set and it’s one that should work a bit better for fans. The series is being produced as a set of four box sets where the DVD sets are priced at 12,800 yen and the Blu-ray sets at 13,800 yen that begin on December 16th, 2017. It’ll take a few months to get everything out but it’s going to come together well with three discs in each set to be detailed.

The series is based on the light novel series that ran from 2003 to 2009 for ten volumes that spawned a manga by Waka Miyama in 2011 that has thirteen volumes out so far.

The Japanese cast includes Atsushi Abe as Yuushi Inaba, Yuuichi Nakamura as Mizuki Hase, Akira Ishda as Reimei Isshiki, Miyuki Sawashiro as Akira Kuga, Kazuya Nakai as Akira Fukase, Toshiyuki Morikawa as Ryuu-san, Tomokazu Sugita as Furuhonya, Show Hayami as Kottouya, Kouji Yusa as Satou-san, Takehito Koyasu as Fuuru, Rie Kugimiya as Kuri, and Mutsumi Tamura as Shiro.

The opening theme song “Good Night Mare” is performed by Rozareena while the ending theme “Nichijoushiki Broken down” is performed by Atsushi Abe and Yuuichi Nakamura/

Plot Concept: Inaba Yuushi’s parents died in his first year of middle school, so he moved in with his relatives. Though they did care for him, he could tell he was a burden and happily prepared to move to a high school with a dormitory. Unfortunately, the dormitory burned down before he could move in! Yuushi doesn’t want to live with his relatives anymore, but it’s rough finding lodging as an orphaned student with little money. He finally finds a room in a nice old building which seems too good to be true.

The catch is that it is a Monster House, a place where humans and supernatural creatures–ghosts, mononoke, etc.– live together. Another high schooler lives there, a cute girl named Akine, and she’s completely unfazed by the monsters. In fact, she can even exorcise evil spirits! Yuushi’s high school life just got much stranger than he ever bargained for!
