Crunchyroll Streams ‘Amanchu!’ OVA

2 min read

Amanchu OVAWhile the Amanchu series wrapped up its simulcast run through Crunchyroll back at the end of 2016, the home video release brought out an OVA with the seventh and final volume back on March 29th, 2017. It’s taken a bit but Crunchyroll has secured the rights to stream it and has it available as the thirteenth episode here.

The series set Junichi Sato as the chief director with Kenichi Kasai doing the main directing working off of series composition by Deko Akao. Character designs are being handled by Youko Itou with animation produced at JC Staff.

The cast includes Eri Suzuki as Hikari Kohinata, Ai Kayano as Futaba Ooki, Saori Oonishi as Ai Ninomiya, Yuuichirou Umehara as Makoto Ninomiya, Shizuka Itou as Mato Katori, Yurika Kubo as Aria and Kikuko Inoue as Kino Kohinata.

Maaya Sakamoto will be involved with it as her sing Million Clouds will be used as the opening theme song for the series. Sato and Sakamoto worked together most recently on the Tamayura series where she did the theme songs.

Plot concept: Hikari Kohinata is a cheerful 15-year-old girl who lives near the ocean and she spends much of her time diving as a result. On her first day of high school, she meets a teacher who also likes scuba diving. There’s also a 16-year-old classmate, Futaba, who gets dragged along in Hikari’s maelstrom as soon as they meet at school. Most of the manga so far details the relationship between the two girls, which quickly seems to move into romantic two girl friendship-territory.
