September was certainly an interesting month for the bookstore market as ranked by BookScan as the chart is pretty heavy on the manga side. Viz Media takes ten manga slots and part of that is made up of Death Note as readers discovered it after seeing the film on Netflix in late August. One-Punch Man takes the top spot and Viz Media gobbles up more with My Hero Academia, Tokyo Ghoul, and Yugioh among others. Seven Seas Entertainment also grabs a spot with the Monster Girls Encyclopedia.
DC Comics has the Batman: The Dark Knight – Master Race hardcover strking high while the latest Batman volume does well and renewed interest in Watchmen surfaces again with the new event coming up next month. Marvel Comics is once again absent from the list and we get some interesting lesser known titles and publishers staking out space.
