The Japanese cast includes Sakura Tange as Sakura Kinomoto, Aya Hisakawa as Keroberos, Junko Iwao as Tomoyo Daidōji, Motoko Kumai as Syaoran Li, Megumi Ogata as Yukito Tsukishiro, Tomokazu Seki as Tōya Kinomoto, Nozomu Sasaki as Eriol Hiragizawa, Emi Shinohara as Kaho Mizuki, Yumi Touma as Spinel Sun, Ryoka Yuzuki as Nakuru Akizuki/Ruby Moon, and Katsuyuki Konishi as Terada-sensei/

The original series from CLAMP came out twenty years ago and had a popular anime series, first released by Geneon here and then recently by NIS America, as well as two theatrical features that were picked up by Discotek Media. The manga itself ran from 1996 to 2000 with twelve million copies sold. TOKYOPOP brought the series out originally and Dark Horse Comics picked it up in omnibus form for a more recent and cleaned up release.

Original concept: One day, Sakura Kinomoto accidentally opened a book containing dozens of magical cards called Clow Cards, and they scattered around her hometown of Tomoeda. Sakura was chosen to be the master of these cards and has been enlisted by the sun-based guardian Kerberos to use her magic and reclaim these cards before they make any more trouble in town. She is encouraged by her best friend Tomoyo Daidouji, and she meets a rival cardcaptor, Syaoran Li, who is a direct descendant of the creator of the Clow Cards.
