The summer 2017 anime series 18if is getting a pretty decent release schedule that works out well for fans both in cost and storage space. While we now have a look at the artwork for the first volume on both formats, which is done up differently, it also comes wit the news that the home video releases are being delayed with new dates (and possibly new release structure) to be announced. I won’t be surprised if it gets reworked into a single box set release in a few months. The thirteen episode series is getting a four-volume release that begins on October 4th, 2017. The DVDs are priced at 5,500 yen while the Blu-ray’s are priced at 8,100 yen.
The project is animated by Gonzo with director Koji Morimoto on board. Morimoto’s credits go back a ways, including work on Magnetic Rose, which for a lot of fans will raise interest. Morimoto is on board as a chief supervisor for the anime. The show is an interesting one as the plan is to work different directors for each episode with Akira Nishimori announced so far. Asuhiro Tomioka is handling the series composition with Tadashi Oppata serving as the character designer for it.
The Japanese cast includes Nobunaga Shimazaki as Haruto Tsukishiro, Takehito Koyasu as Katsumi Kanzaki, and Kaori Nazuka as Lily.
Plot Concept: After going to sleep like normal, Haruto Tsukishiro wakes up to discover something unbelievable—he’s stuck in dream world! Here, witches plague the dreamscape and are more than dreamy figments—they’re the trapped souls of young women who’ve rejected reality and are afflicted by the “Sleeping Beauty Syndrome.” As he searches for a way out, Haruto will face the witches and their terrifying powers.
