The summer 2017 anime series Koi to Uso has its home video release in Japan being handled by Amuse and they’ve set a shortened schedule for it. While we’ve still got a few weeks to go until the first set arrives, more of the packaging has been revealed with the gatefold for the digipak and a look at the packaging set as a whole. The twelve episode series is getting two box sets released for it where the DVD sets are priced at 15,000 yen and the Blu-ray sets at 18,000 yen that will arrive on October 4th and November 22nd respectively. The series was directed by Seiki Takuno with animation produced by LIDENFILMS. The original manga comes from Musawo Tsumugi which began in 2014.
The Japanese cast includes Kana Hanazawa as Misaki Takasaki, Yui Makino as Lilina Sanasa, Ryota Osaka as Yukari Nejima, Shinnosuke Tachibana as Yuusuke Nisaka, Kishou Taniyama as Kou Yajima, Tomoyo Kurosawa as Kagetsu Ichijou, and Eri Kitamura handling the narration.
Kodansha Comics USA has picked up the rights to it with plans for the first volume to arrive in print and digital in August 2017.
The opening theme song is “Kanashii Ureshii” by Frederic while the ending theme song is “Can’t you say” by Roys.
Plot Concept: Lies are forbidden and love is doubly forbidden. In the near future, when young people in Japan turn sixteen, they are assigned a marriage partner by the government. People don’t have to go through the trouble of looking for someone, and everyone accepts that the country will find a compatible partner to make them happy. Yukari Nejima is fifteen years old. He lives in a small corner of the country, and just can’t seem to get ahead in life. Both academically and athletically, he’s below average. But within him, he hides a heart burning with passion! In this world in which love is forbidden, what will happen to him when he falls in love?
