Kodansha Comics Sets New Digital Manga Sale That Have Summer Anime

3 min read

Love and Lies Volume 1 CoverKodansha Comics has had a very good run of series that they’ve picked up in the last year or so that have found themselves with anime adaptations. Curious, isn’t it? Anyway, the publisher is taking advantage of those summer series about to end and are now offering up the manga for them that they’ve release so far on sale through ComiXology. There are six titles that are available where the pricing is set to $5.99 per volume, which is almost half off their current pricing both digitally and in print, if it’s getting a print volume release at all.

The sale runs through September 25th, 2017.

Altair: For generations the Turkiye Devleti and the Balt-Rhein Empire have stood in stern opposition of each other. Then one night, when an imperial minister is found assassinated, the two nations are plunged into a potentially explosive situation! As the generals of Turkiye’s council cry for war, Mahmut comes to discover the devious truth behind the assassination! Thus the young pasha’s battle for his country, peace and trust in his fellow man begins!

Aho-Girl: Equal parts cute, silly, and subversive, the four-panel comedy manga Ahogaru was a surprise hit in Japan. Fans of anarchic slice-of-life gag manga like Azumanga Daioh – these are the new laughs you’ve been waiting for! Yoshiko is a hopefully clueless high school girl. Her rock-paper-scissors strategy is “rock.” She somehow gets zeroes on multiple-choice tests. And she has an often-nearly-fatal weakness for bananas. Her devoted friends have no choice but to hang around and make sure nobody takes advantage of her. (Of course, the entertainment value might have something to do with it, too.) Cute characters, weird gags, and lots and lots of bananas!

Love and Lies: Yukari is dull. He doesn’t even stand out enough to be bullied – he’s just a generally lower-middle-class kid. He’s in love with Misaki, the most popular girl in school. There’s just one problem: He’s 15, one year away from receiving his government-assigned marriage partner. He normally wouldn’t have the courage to defy the law, but his sickly classmate Ririna still believes in love, and won’t stop goading him into confessing his feelings!

Tsuredure Children: The long-awaited omnibus of the popular 4-panel school romance web comic! This book is for those of you who just can’t seem to say, “I love you.” An acclaimed series jam-packed with frustration, embarrassment, and awkwardness! With huge revisions and never-before-seen chapters, this book offers an experience you can’t find with the web version!

Welcome to the Ballroom: THE BALLROOM BECKONS Feckless high school student Tatara Fujita wants to be good at something – anything. Unfortunately, he’s about as average as a slouchy teen can be. The local bullies know this, and make it a habit to hit him up for cash, but all that changes when the debonair Kaname Sengoku sends them packing. Sengoku’s not the neighborhood watch, though. He’s a professional ballroom dancer. And once Tatara Fujita gets pulled into the world of the ballroom, his life will nevver be the same.

Elegant Yokai Apartment Life: Yokai, ghosts, and humans living together in harmony? Yushi Inaba was taken in by his uncle’s family after losing his parents in an accident three years ago. Now sixteen and eager to make it on his own, he hopes to move into dorm upon entering high school. But by a cruel twist of fate, the dorm burns to the ground! After searching high and low, Yushi finally manages to find an apartment at the too-good-to-be-true price of 25,000 yen per month! Sure enough, there’s one condition: the apartment is haunted! Surrounded by a gaggle of colorful tenants, Yushi’s “normal” high school life begins! Waka Miyama delivers an elegant comic based off of the popular novel series by Hinowa Kozuki.
