The summer 2017 anime series My First Girlfriend is a Gal kicked off its simuldub run back at the beginning of August and things have been fun there as Funimation has rolled out about half the series so far. To drum up a little more interest in it they’ve now brought out their first dub clip from the show to give folks an idea of what it’s about and how the English language dub team has put things together.
Dave Trosko is serving as the ADR director for it and the English cast includes Alejandro Saab as Junichi, Jamie Marchi as Yukana, Brad Smeaton as Shinpei, Alison Viktorin as Yui, Brittany Lauda as Nene, Morgan Garrett as Ranko, Cris George as Minoru, Jacob Browning as Keigo, Kristin Sutton as Ayumi, and Annabel Thorne as Kokoro.
The series was directed by Hiroyuki Furukawa based on the composition by Yuichiro Momose. Furukawa also worked on the character designs with animation produced at NAZ.
The Japanese cast includes Shintaro Asanuma as Junichi Hashiba, Yuki Nagaku as Yukana Yane, Eri Kitamura as Ranko Honjou, Ayana Taketatsu as Yui Kashii, Yui Ogura as Shizune Fujinoki, Toshiyuki Toyonaga as Shinpei Sakamoto, Kenji Akabane as Keigo Ishida and Minoru Shiraishi as Minoru Kobayakawa.
The original property comes from creator Meguru Ueno and it began in November 2015 and just published its second volume at the end of October. It’s currently serialized in Shounen Ace magazine.
Plot Concept: Spring. The “season of love” has arrived and it seems that finding himself a girlfriend was harder than Junichi believed. To break the status quo, Junichi’s friends have forced him into confessing to the gyaru, Yame Yukana. However, things do not go quite as he expected. A series of “firsts” begins!
