The latest rankings out of Japan have arrived for the manga and light novel markets and it’s a pretty good week overall for the week ending September 10th, 2017. The big winner is the latest My Hero Academia volume as it moved about 340,000 units amid the current anime season being broadcast to take the top spot. The newest Food Wars comes in second at 220,000 volumes so there’s a gap but about what you’d expect for something bringing out its 26th volume. Natsume’s Book of Friends continues to do very well while Ajin moves some solid numbers. No first volumes crack the top thirty but we do see Dokyuu Hentai HxEros clocking in at 38th place.
On the light novel side, the latest Sword Art Online debuts to 88,000 volumes being sold while the newest Wolf & Parchment: New Theory Spice & Wolf debuts in second place just under 10,000 units, which is pretty good as it attempts to gain some mindshare after the previous series. Classroom of the Elite continues to be the big mover of the anime season with its entire run adding a really strong chunk of volumes week after week, making it a big contender for a second season.
