Funimation is gearing up for the November 7th, 2017 release of the Cheer Boys!! series as a complete collection DVD/BD combo. Ahead of its release, the show – which got a simuldub previously – now has its first home video preorder trailer rolling out. The $64.98 set has some good extras as it comes with Episode 5.5 – The View We Seven Shared, OVA – Various Boys / Easy!! Warm-Up Dance with the Cheer Boys, Episode 5 Commentary, Textless Opening & Closing Songs, and Trailers.
The work comes from the novel of the same name by Ryou Asai which had a manga adaptation by Ayaka Matsumoto, resulting in four volumes worth of material. The animation adaptation is being directed by Ai Yoshimura based on the series composition from Reiko Yoshida. Hiroyuki Asada is on board with the original character designs while Hitomi Tsuruta is serving as the character designer and chief animation director for Brain’s Base.
The opening theme is “Hajime no Ippo” from Luck Life while the ending theme is made up of the group BREAKERS with the song “LIMIT BREAKERS”.
The Japanese cast includes Yuki Yonai as Haruka Bandou, Nobuhiko Okamoto as Kazuma Hashimoto, Yuuki Ono as Shou Tokugawa, Tomokazu Sugita as Wataru Mizoguchi, Yuu Hayashi as Kouji Toono, Kousuke Kuwano as Souichirou Suzuki, Kazuyuki Konishi as Gen Hasegawa, Hiroki Yasumoto as Jin Doumoto, Yoshitaka Yamaya as Kaoru Hanasaki, Tasuku Hatanaka as Hisashi Mori, Ayumu Murase as Ryūzō Sakuma, Chiharu Sawashiro as Takeru Andō, Anri Katsu as Tamotsu Kaneda, Hayato Kimura as Natsuki Someya, Yūya Hirose as Daichi Norita, Ryūichi Kijima as Takuya Nabeshima, Takefumi Yumihara as Takumi Nabeshima, Yosei Bun as Chen Zixian, Yuko Kaida as Satsuki Takashiro, Ayumi Fujimura as Haruko Bandō and Reika Uyama as Chihiro Sakai.
With the English language adaptation, Aaron Dismuke was the ADR director and the main cast includes Dallas Reid as Haruki Bando, Justin Pate as Kazuma Hashimoto, Kyle Phillips as Sho Tokugawa, Jarrod Greene as Wataru Mizoguchi, Cris George as Koji Tono, Alejandro Saab as Soichiro Suzuki, and Clifford Chapin as Gen Hasegawa.
