The Mushibugyo manga never made a big impact overseas even with an anime adaptation that was streamed and now it looks like things are wrapping up. After bringing out some OVAs back in 2015, the manga is scheduled to end with the September 20th, 2017 installment of Weekly Shonen Sunday. The 31st volume is set for a September 15th, 2017 release and the 32nd unscheduled volume will bring the series to a close.
The manga from Hiroshi Fukuda has been going on since 2011 when it was relaunched after the original three-volume serialization. This is the adaptation that kicked off in 2011 and received the two-cour TV series back in 2013.
Plot concept: The action story is set in Edo-era Tokyo in the early 1700s. The eighth shogun Tokugawa Yoshimune ordered boxes to be installed so commoners can submit their thoughts. After hearing their voices, the shogun creates a new magistrate unit—Mushibugyou—to protect the people in the heart of the city. Each member is a specialist with unique fighting skills.
