Frontier Works earlier this summer announced a new series hitting Blu-ray later this year with the 1991 show High School Mystery: Gakuen Nanafushigi. The release is one that you can essentially view as a replacement for the out of print DVD box set as it’s a standard definition Blu-ray release where the two discs will hold the 41 episodes. With it getting closer now the retail sites have started to update with the visuals for it and we have a pretty good look at the packaging design for it now.
The release is priced at 30,000 yen with a September 27th, 2017 release date for it. No extras are solicited for it at the moment but the release notes indicate that there may be some poor looking parts of the video and potentially with the audio because of the age of the show and the lack of a full on remaster/restore. Which isn’t a surprise as there’s very little information about the show out there as it seems to be one of those lost to the ages.
Directed by Shin Misawa based on the manga by Jiro Tsunoda, it was produced by Studio Comet.
