Discotek Media Acquires ‘Bananya’ Anime Rights

Bananya Episode 1The summer 2016 short-form anime series Bananya has found a home video release partner in North America with Discotek Media. Discotek media will be doing this with DVD and Blu-ray releases and with a dub that comes from Michael Toole in it, presumably as the narrator.

The Japanese version came out as a single DVD release on November 25th, 2016 priced at 3,980 yen. It contained the full thirteen episode run clocking in at just about forty minutes. The limited edition release will have an ending theme song commercial video and an event priority ticket within it as well.

The project is from TMS Entertainment and Gathering with Kyo Yatate directing it and working on the scripts. Jun Mita served as the animation director for it. Yuuki Kaji took on the titular role in it as well.

Plot Concept: Bananya is a mysterious cat who hides inside a banana. Bananya lives undercover inside a real banana, and no-one has ever seen the part covered by banana skin… When nobody is around, Bananya secretly plays and creates mischief. Bananya likes to play and eat sweet things. Bananya’s dream is to become a stylish chocolate banana.
