It’s slated to be a part of the 35th anniversary of the franchise, though no dates have been set for it yet. The production staff and cast has not been reveled nor whether it’ll be an original work or a compilation film.

A new Macross TV series of some form is set to debut in 2018.

The TV show was directed by Shoji Kawamori while Kenji Yasuda is serving as the hands-on director. Toshizou Nemoto handled the series compositions and scripts while Majiro and Yuu Shindou worked on the character designs adapted from the original work done by Chisato Mita. Satelight is animating the series.

The cast includes Yuma Uchida as Hayate Immelman, Minori Suzuki as Freyja Wion, Asami Seto as Mirage Farina Jenius, “Who Ami” as Mikumo Guynemer, Kiyono Yasuno as Kaname Buccaneer, Nao Toyama as Reina Prowler, Nozomi Nishida as Makina Nakajima, Toshiyuki Morikawa as Arado Mölders, Koki Uchiyama as Messer Ihlefeldt, Shinji Kawada as Chuck Mustang, Unsho Ishizuka as Ernest Johnson, KENN as Bogue Con-Vaart, Kei Minegishi as Theo and Zao Jussila, Kaito Ishikawa as Loyd Blaim and Ryouhei Kimura as Keith Aero Windermere.

The composers for the soundtrack, always a key feature of the franchise, was handled by Saeko Suzuki, TOMISIRO, and Mina Kubota.

Plot concept: Eight years after the events of Macross F, a mysterious phenomenon known as the Var Syndrome is gradually consuming the galaxy. It’s up to a new generation of highly capable Valkyrie pilots to deal with this universal menace. And if they didn’t have enough on their plate already, the Aerial Knights Valkyrie fighter team from the Kingdom of Wind have come to challenge the Delta Squadron.
