The summer 2017 anime series Vatican Miracle Examiner is having its home video releases handled by Kadokawa and they’ve set a shorter plan for it. The twelve episode series is getting a three-volume release on separate DVD and Blu-ray editions. Those are priced at 13,800 yen and 14,800 yen respectively beginning on September 27th, 2017. The series has Yoshitomo Yonetani directing it based on the series composition by Seishi Minakami. Kazunori Iwakura is on board to handle the character designs with JC Staff producing the animation.
The Japanese cast includes Nobuhiko Okamoto as Kou Yosef Hiraga, Junichi Suwabe as Robert Nicholas, Souma Saito as Lauren Di Luca, Masashi Ebara as Archbishop Sauro, Hiroki Yasumoto as Bill Saskins, Kouji Yusa as Priest Julia and Tsubasa Yonaga as Ryouta Hiraga.
The work itself comes from writer Rin Fujiki that began in 2007 originally but started republishing under a different imprint in 2010 where it’s been running since with fourteen volumes featuring illustrations by Thores Shibamoto.The property had a brief manga run back in 2013 and a second adaptation kicked off back in August of last year by Anju Hino.
Plot Concept: To detect lies, refuse fakes, and reach the miracle of God – that is our mission as Vatican Miracle Examiners. Hiraga, a scientific genius and Roberto, an expert on the decryption of cryptography and ancient documents are not only good partners but also “Miracle Examiners” belonging to Vatican branch. They are secret examiners, who are requested to examine and identify the authenticity of miracles from all over the world. They encounter strange events at the places they visit for examination, such as an emerging stigma and an image of the Virgin Mary shedding tears. A bizarre incident suddenly occurs while the authenticity of a miracle is identified. The case file of the genius priest duo has just begun!
