What They Say:
Remember the time Deadpool went a little TOO crazy and killed the entire Marvel Universe? Well, this isn’t that. This is a DIFFERENT time. Writer Cullen Bunn and artist Dalibor Talajic (A.K.A. the creators behind DEADPOOL KILLS THE MARVEL UNIVERSE) have reunited for ANOTHER tale of Deadpool taking out all of your faves in the most horrific ways possible! It’s gonna hurt him more than it hurts you…and you’re gonna love it!

Content: (warning, content section may contain spoilers)
Deadpool’s carving through the Marvel Universe again!  This time, however, a group of villains have hijacked the Merc with a Mouth and set him on a hunt against heroes!  The caveat to the concept here?  Deadpool has seemingly no clue this is happening, which is shown further right off the bat in this issue.  Punisher and the heroes following Wade’s trail have come across another body, and soon a monstrous Venom gets the drop on Spider-Man and while Deadpool sees a nice little eating contest, He’s actually eaten Spider-Man.  No one is safe in a comic like this, and soon Deadpool’s entered the home of Jessica Drew and her baby.  The concept has become a manhunt.  With the good guys splitting into groups to find the confused mercenary, and tension among the villains controlling Deadpool.  Moon Knight does have one operative in place, and Gwenpool is her name!

This issue continues to use very Deadpool humor and shows us that a concept like this can still work, even referencing the Clone Saga when Wade confronts Miles Morales.  Deadpool’s deadly path through the Marvel ranks might be stopped if Gwenpool can get word about the Red Skull’s group to Moon Knight, but someone still has to stop Wade first.  Deadpool acts very nonchalant and like everyone loves him throughout the book, like when he imagines that Jessica Drew invited him to watch her baby.  The book is a race against time and a mystery now, and that concept works well here, putting both Deadpool’s fantasy and his horrid results at the forefront.

In Summary:
This issue is yet another showcase in how well the concept presented within it works.  The balance between the zaniness Deadpool experiences and the grisly reality that the other heroes have to contend with is handles well, and the reader gets more than just a feeling that Deadpool’s insanity may not be as controlled as the Red Skull plans.  It’s interesting that the writers let Deadpool kill Jessica Drew in front of her baby, but it also shows that thy’re not holding anything back when it comes to Deadpool’s targets.  The tone hovers between silly and grisly and plays to the strengths of Deadpool’s character.

It’s zany and full of Wade Wilson’s signature killing, and the art style fully supports it.  The art is mixed between the silly and realistic, and they’re both handled well and never feel out of place.  The story flows well and keeps readers interested in what our merc might do next.  If there’s any problem here, it’s that things really don’t move forward too much.  We moved through one plot point in the whole book, and it feels like maybe they could have done a bit more here.  Overall though, the action is great, the story is a blast, and interested readers will get what they wanted out of this.
