Nora Episode 2Life is wonderful when you’re back from the afterlife.

What They Say:

The opening episode of this series was one that threw a lot of things quickly at the viewer, not unexpected with it being a short form series, but in a way that made it rather dense and unmanageable to easily get into. With almost a third of this given over to the opening sequence and overall concept setup, the time we do get has some nice moments early on with Patricia enjoying life and going to school with Nora. But all of that falls apart when Takada arrives and just lays into her about all kinds of things. Takada has issues and uses Patricia as an easy target because of her claims about being from the afterworld, something that can’t be proven. At least until a skeleton suddenly appears from the other world and begins glomming onto another male student. All of this proves what Patricia is and that at least means that subplot is dealt with quickly.

In Summary:
The show does slow things down a bit here as it does proper introductions for some of the characters, something that’s helpful considering the way the first episode just threw everyone at us at once with them all knowing each other. That doesn’t mean the episode is significantly better but it is more accessible and you at least have a clue or two who everyone is and some of the dynamics between them. There’s a cute story to be had here, one ideal for a short form series, and I can see it finding its way better in a couple of episodes compared to the early ones.
