When it comes to the Sanrio side of the anime world, it tends to not make much of an impact overseas, though fans enjoy the characters and merchandise. One of the more recent shows that’s been very under the radar for obvious reasons is Gudetama, which is made up of 124 episodes. We saw this come out with a big 124 episode collection in early 2015 and then a trio of shorter collections later in the year with what looks like 40 or so episodes per set.
Now, in an effort to grab a few more casual sales in an easy to do way in smaller shops and in new venues, Avex is putting it out as a series of six singe volume releaseds. They’re priced at just 1,000 yen each – making it easy to grab for kids, with the first three coming out previously on September 22nd, 2016 while the final three come out far later on August 2nd, 2017.
Since the show is about a minute long per episode, that makes it an easy fit on the DVD.
Plot concept: Gudetama, an egg that is dead to the world and completely lacks motivation. No matter what cooking method you use, Gudetama remains unmoved.
