New ‘Shokoku no Altair’ Anime TV Spots Preview Opening Song

Shokoku no AltairAs more of the summer season shows get things line up, one of those is the July 7th, 2017 debut of the studio MAPPA adaptation of Shokoku no Altair, a historical fantasy manga series that comes from Kotono Kato. To get people pumped for it a bit more two new promotional spots have arrived to showcase its animation and the opening theme song. The new adaptation has Kazuhiro Furuhashi directing based on the series composition by Noboru Takagi. Toshiyuki Kanno is handling the character designs with it being animated at MAPPA.

The previously announced Japanese cast includes Ayumu Murase as Mahmut, Makoto Furukawa as Zaganos, KENN as Kyros, Katsuyuki Konishi as Sleiman, Kenjiro Tsuda as Rui, Kenichi Ogata as Khalil, Junichi Suwabe as Abiriga, Takaya Satou as Ibrahim, Yoko Hikasa as Shara, Kazuya Nakai as Balaban, Kouki Uchiyama as Bayezit, Ai Kayano as Ayşe, Nobunaga Shimazaki as Orhan and Nobuhiko Okamoto as Ishmael.

The original work comes from Kotono Kato and began in Monthly Shonen Sirius back in 2007 with the eighteenth volume due out in January 2017.

Plot Concept: Mahmut is a young Pasha serving on the general’s council of Turkey. The clouds of war are gathering over his country. With Turkey’s council split between the warmongers and the pacifists, Mahmut begins his quest to keep the peace at any cost. As he finds himself deeper and deeper in the politics of the ancient world, new enemies and allies surface. Who will prevail? What will Mahmut do if war proves to be inevitable?
