While there’s no North American pickup still, though a French release is currently underway on DVD, Pony Canyon announced last December that in Japan they’ve scheduled the Katekyo Hitman Reborn! series for the Blu-ray treatment. While we’re still waiting on some of the details, the cover art and packaging design for the show has started to arrive ahead of the June 21st, 2017 debut of the third and final set.
Details on how it’s being handled aren’t available yet in terms of upscale versus native HD for which episodes, but the 203 episode series will be released in three box sets throughout the spring and summer of 2017. They’ll be priced at 38,000 yen each and are coming out monthly in a way that will definitely suck the wind from a lot of wallets.
Plot concept: REBORN’s main protagonist is Tsuna, a timid junior high student who is failure at school, sports, and his social life. But everything around Tsuna completely changes when a fedora wearing, gun-toting baby named Reborn, who claims to be an Italian hit man from Vongola family, shows up! Reborn was sent to groom Tsuna for his future life as a mafia boss of the family!
