One of the more enjoyable shows of the last few years that avoided going to the more disturbing elements of the manga was that of Bunny Drop. Simulcast originally by Crunchyroll and then released on home video by NIS America, German distributor AniMoon Publishing has announced their intention to bring out the show with a newly acquired license. The plans aren’t firmed up at this point in full but they’re looking to bring it out by the end of 2017 with separate DVD and Blu-ray releases.

Directed by Kanta Kamei based on the series composition and scripts by Taku Kishimoto, the series originally aired in 2011. It’s based on the manga by Yumi Unita and saw Yuu Yamashita as the character designer and chief animation director with it produced at Production IG.
The Japanese cast includes Ayu Matsuura as Rin Kaga, Hiroshi Tsuchida as Daikichi Kawachi, Atsuko Mine as Sachiko Kawachi, Kana Ueda as Haruko Maeda, Maaya Sakamoto as Masako Yoshii, Masakazu Itou as Kenji Kawachi, Nanako Sudō as Reina Maeda, Noa Sakai as Kōki Nitani, Sayaka Ohara as Kōki’s Mom and Yumi Uchiyama as Kazumi Kawachi.
Plot Concept: Daikichi, a 30-year-old bachelor, meets the 6-year-old girl Rin at his grandfather Souichi’s funeral. It is there that Daikichi and his family learn that Rin is Souichi’s direct descendant. When the topic of who would care for her comes up, the family shirks all responsibility of raising this “shameful” child. Reacting emotionally, Daikichi declares his intention to take Rin into his home. This is the story of two very different individuals coming together under one roof and learning what it means to be a family, an experience that teaches Daikichi what it means to be a parent.
