Discotek Media picked up the rights to the Chargeman Ken anime series last summer with plans for a 2017 debut, though at the time the formatting wasn’t decided. The distributor picked up both the home video and streaming rights for it and has now put the first of sixty-five episodes online to check out where the show runs an average of five-minutes or so.
The 1973 series was directed by Noboru Miura based on the original work by Tetsuhisa Suzukawa. Eiji Tanaka served as the character designer and Tama Production handled the animation. Kazuko Sawada stars as Ken.
Plot Concept: Young Ken Izumi, his sister Caron, and their annoying robot sidekick Barican must save the local amusement park from the sinister Juralians. Watch for the scene where Ken rolls two feet off the ground, thanks to an animation error!
