Re-Creators-Episode-7Sometimes amateur creations can end the world, too.

What They Say:
Mamika intervenes in a fight between Mirokuji and Blitz in order to stop people who can only reach an understanding through fighting. For the sake of the people in her world, and for the sake of fulfilling her role as “Magicalslayer Mamika”, Mamika asks Sota about the truth behind the world. Meanwhile, Nakanogane discovers the Military Uniform Princess’s true identity on a video posting website.

The Review:
Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
By the time it concludes, the grand old fight between Creations grows to include just about every Creation we know other than the Military Uniform Princess herself, of course. Magane manages to sit back and enjoy the fireworks resulting from the violence she started, and despite Selesia’s best efforts, she makes a pretty solid case that someone as twisted as her cannot be reasoned with, and more drastic measures are required. Yuya is having a good time in all of this, though, finding himself a worthy rival in Blitz and eventually forming a beautiful friendship with Rui as they regroup after the fact. Yuya’s character has some interesting overlap with Magane’s for being on the side of the protagonists, and is shown to have a thoughtful perspective on the situation as he analyzes how he and the other characters from other worlds have changed since coming to this one and realizing the truth behind their origins. His bond with Rui is amusing in a way, but Selesia’s “Oh, boys!” face-palm is a bit much and doesn’t quite work. But the team is back to their important planning on how to handle the situation, especially regarding Magane and her creator…

Oh. Oh yeah, they should not have let her go. The Military Uniform Princess may be the primary antagonist, but Magane is almost certainly the most evil character we’ll ever see in this story. I’m sure there are a lot of creators who would be terrified to see some of their creations come to life, and if Magane’s creator knew that there was any chance she could become real, there’s no chance he would’ve ever written her. Although considering the state of his living space, there may be more to tell about his mental state and future even without this factor. At any rate, it’s the darkest the series has gotten thus far, the kind of material that might feel more at home with some of Aoki’s previous collaborators like Urobuchi. Clearly something has to be done about this before any more damage can be inflicted, but our team is still struggling with how to handle it all.

But at the center of everything is still the Military Uniform Princess, so identifying her takes top priority. As Sota gets way too uncomfortable to not be seen as suspicious by everyone around him, those who would benefit from the knowledge he holds start to theorize further regarding the Military Uniform Princess’s origins and significance, with the possibility of her creator’s own fandom actually being the driving force of every character that has appeared thus far. If so, the identity of this person is even more critical, and it takes our innocent little magical girl Mamika to get some answers. Granted, the rest of the team happens to make the crucial first steps at the exact same time as Sota spills the beans elsewhere, so at least there will be more progress on that front after dangling hints and letting them sit. That’s not necessarily better, but it’s interesting.

In Summary:
As we build up to the majority of the cast starting to make the headway on their investigation needed to potentially put a stop to all this, we spend a bit more quality time with a few members. Several are shown to be more insightful than might be expected, sometimes to the point of delivering theories in the form of exposition because it’s the only way the plot can reveal itself.
