First ‘Pandora in the Crimson Shell Ghost Urn’ Anime Dub Clip Arrives

Pandora in the Crimson Shell Header 4-23Funimation’s digging into some of their releases for next couple of months with previews through clips and the latest one is the upcoming release of Pandora in the Crimson Shell Ghost Urn. The complete series is landing as a DVD/BD set on June 13th, 2017 priced at $64.98 for the twelve episodes. It’s a straightforward set where it’ll have the show plus the clean opening and closing sequences as its only extras. Check out the clip below to see if it piques your interest!

The series stars Sanae Fuku as Nene Nanakorobi, Manami Numakura as Clarion, Atsuko Tanaka as Uzal Delilah, Junpei Morita as Buer, Satsumi Matsuda as Buri, Rie Murakawa as Bunny, Marie Miyake as Takumi Korobase, Tetsu Inada as Robert Altman, Junichi Suwabe as Ian Crutz and Maria Naganawa as Eimi Giliam.

The English language adaptation was directed by Jerry Jewell based on scripts from lead writer Samuel Wooley. James Baker, Brian Leonard, and Jose Sandoval served as the ADR engineers for the series. The main cast includes Megan Shipman as Nene, Lara Woodhull as Clarion, Monica Rial as Uzal, Sonny Strait as Buer and Leah Clark as Bunny.

The manga is licensed in North America by Seven Seas Entertainment. It comes from creators Masamune Shirow and Koshi Rikdo. With Shirow writing and Rikdo illustrating, it’s a strange and surreal piece just from the cover artwork alone that you can see on the right. The series began back in October 2012 in Kadokawa Niconico Ace with several volumes published so far.

Shirow is well known for his many creations over the years, from Appleseed to Ghost in the Shell, and Rikdo gained fame with Excel Saga, which ended in 2011 and had a very popular anime adaptation for North American fans.

Plot concept: In an age when large-scale natural disasters frequently happen all over the world, when cyborgs and autonomous robots are beginning to appear on the market in technologically advanced nations, and major world powers compete for technology and resources, the divide between rich and poor grows and the future for the poor looks bleak. In this transitional stage, everyone wanders around in a self-indulgent daze and the way out isn’t clear… This is the story of how two cybernetically enhanced girls meet.
