2 min read

Divine Gate Hulu HeaderWith Funimation set to release Divine Gate in North America on May 16th, 2017, Madman Entertainment has now revealed that they’ve picked up the rights to the show for release in Australia. The company has set a July 19th, 2017 release for it as a DVD-only title that will be bilingual. The twelve episode series is priced at $59.98 and while the listing says it has no extras at the moment, I suspect it’ll be identical to the US release that comes with some solid extras that include a commentary for the final episode, a video recap about the world of the show, promos, TV spots, and the clean opening and closing sequences.

The show is animated at Studio Pierrot with Noriyuki Abe directing based on series composition from Natsuko Takahashi and character designs by Ichirou Ozawa.

The Japanese cast includes Tetsuya Kakihara as Akane, Soma Saito as Aoto, Kanae Itou as Midori, Ayana Taketatsu as Hikari, Sora Amamiya as Yukari, Hiroyuki Yoshino as Ginji, Yuuichi Nakamura as Arthur, Kouji Yusa as Loki, Akira Ishida as Oz, Kousuke Toriumi as Lancelot, Ami Koshimizu as Ifrit, Mai Fuchigami as Undine, Kana Asumi as Sylph, Yuri Yoshida as Metabon, KENN as Ywain, Azusa Tadokoro as Bedivere, Ayumu Murase as Breunor, Natsue Sasamoto as Tristan, Binbin Takaoka as Gareth, Arisa Kiyoto as Kay, Chihiro Ikki as Lamorak, Yuusuke Shirai as Percival, Rie Suegara as Mordred, Kenji Nomura as Palomides, Yuuki Kuwahara as Gawain, Megumi Ogata as the narrator, Yukaana as system operator and Rie Kugimiya as Shonen K.

The show has set Clifford Chapin as the ADR director based on the scripts from lead writer Monica Rial. Nagaris Johnson, Domonique French and Jeremy Woods are on board as the ADR engineers. The main cast now includes Joel McDonald as Akane, Chris Burnett as Aoto, Alexis Tipton as Midori, J. Michael Tatum as Arthur, Clifford Chapin as Ariton and Mikaela Krantz as K.

Plot concept: When the Divine Gate opened, the living world, the heavens, and the underworld became connected, ushering an era of chaos where desires and conflict intersect. To restore order, the World Council is formed. As peace is restored, the Divine Gate becomes an urban legend. In that world, boys and girls deemed fit by the World Council are gathered. They are ones who aim to reach the gate for their personal objectives. Those who reach the gate can remake the world. What lies beyond the gate? When they reach the door, will the world change? Will it be the past that changes, or will it be the future?
