Jason Momoa AquamannThe cast for James Wan’s upcoming live-action Aquaman film that has an October 5th, 2018 debut slated for the project is moving along well, especially as the supporting side brings on board some intriguing additions. After bringing on Nicole Kidman recently as Queen Atlanna, the film has now revealed that Dolph Lundgren has joined the project in the role of King Nereus, who in the comics comes from the kingdom of Xebel that Mera is from and views Mera as his betrothed. Lundgren has gotten a lot of acclaim in the past year for his work on the Russian flashback arc in Arrow where he’s been playing Kovar. As Nereus, he joins a complicated web of villainy for Aquaman to deal with as it includes Yahya Abdul-Mateen as Black Manta along with Patrick Wilson as Ocean Master.

The film is set to be directed by James Wan  and will star Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Amber Heard as Mera, Patrick Wilson as Ocean Master, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Willem Dafoe as Vulko, Nicole Kidman as Queen Atlanna and Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus.

Wan recently described the film, saying, “I kind of don’t want to give too much away but know this: The spirit that I’m going for is like a classic sort of swashbuckling action adventure, sort of high seas adventure story…It’s ultimately a quest story in the spirit of Raiders of the Lost Ark meets Romancing the Stone.”

Plot concept: The reluctant ruler of Atlantis, caught between a surface world constantly ravaging the sea and Atlanteans looking to lash out in revolt.
