AFter the fun of the picnic the last time around, Piacevole goes for a little drama and somber material here in showing the cast from the perspective of Oreki as he came to work at the restaurant. It’s an interesting take to work with as there’s some nice charm to it through his presentation but also just some pure silliness along the way making for some near boys-love material. It’s fun to see how he fits into things here and gets to know the others that work in the restaurant pre-Nanase, especially as he discovers their quirks. It’s like the opening episode from a different angle and with it being more mellow and relaxed, owing to Oreki’s Italian time, it’s got a charm that just makes it adorable.
Piacevole is a series that had some really fun bits, some sweet bits, and some areas that went a bit more hyper than I cared for. Giving us an episode the leads into the first episode with Nanase showing up only at the end gives us a very different view of the restaurant and the cast and it really makes me want to see more of that show than the one we had. Not that I disliked what we had by any stretch but what we get here is tantalizing. The series is a fun one that definitely clicked for me and made me smile a lot, especially in the last few episodes.
