2 min read

American GodsThe upcoming Starz series American Gods, adapting the novel of the same name by Neil Gaiman brought out a lot of fun for fans at SXSW earlier this week and now the trailer from it has arrived, though it’s in limited form at the moment as you can see it here at Deadline. Check out the panel itself below!

The first teaser trailer also arrived for it that just begins to hint at what kind of powers abound in this world.

Neil Gaiman is on board as executive producer for the show, which is being produced by Freemantle North America, with Bryan Fuller and Michael Green writing it and serving as the showrunners.

The series will be directed by David Slade and will star Emily Browning as Laura Moon, Ian McShane as Mr. Wednesday, Ricky Whittle as Shadow Moon, Sean Harris as Mad Sweeney, Yetide Badaki as Bilquis, Bruce Langley as Technical Boy, Cloris Leachman as Zorya Vechernyaya, Peter Stormare as Czernobog, Chris Obi as Anubis, Gillian Anderson as Media, Mousa Kaish as The Jinn and Kristen Chenoweth as Easter.

Plot concept: The story posits a war brewing between old and new gods: the traditional gods of biblical and mythological roots from around the world steadily losing believers to an upstart pantheon of gods reflecting society’s modern love of money, technology, media, celebrity and drugs. Its protagonist, Shadow Moon, is an ex-con who becomes bodyguard and traveling partner to Mr. Wednesday, a conman but in reality one of the older gods, on a cross-country mission to gather his forces in preparation to battle the new deities.
