MVM Bumps ‘Serial Experiments Lain’ UK Blu-ray Anime Release Again

2 min read

Serial Experiments LainMVM Entertainment announced back in May 2016 their pickup of Serial Experiments Lain with plans for a Blu-ray release. The show previously had DVD releases in the UK so they’re not looking to see if there are people still interested in that format knowing that most folks are looking for the high definition release. The release plans have shifted a bit since that original announcement and it’s now shifted once again. After getting a March 6th, 2017 release date late last year, it’s gotten bumped again to a March 27th, 2017 release where it’ll be a DVD/BD combo set. It’ll come with a heavy chipboard box along with art cards. They also confirmed that it’ll be using the masters from the US release so it won’t have any of the previous UK DVD master issues.

The release brings the thirteen episode series out in one Blu-ray box set that will include the original Japanese language track and the previously created English language dub.

Plot concept: Lain Iwakura appears to be an ordinary girl with almost no experience with computers. Yet the sudden suicide of a schoolmate and a number of strange occurrences conspire to pull Lain into the world of the Wired, where she gradually learns that nothing is what it seems to be… not even Lain herself.
