What They Say
The ghosts of Yasogami Lake are none other than those who lived there twenty-one years ago, their beings saved inside Dimension W by a powerful “Numbers” Coil! A young Shijuurou Sakaki and the victims of a dam flooding have been interfering with the present from their small slice of eternity. Shijuurou’s sister, Marisa Sakaki, holds the key to everything, but a group of criminal Collectors after her secrets throws Hotel Yasogami into chaos. Kyouma and Mira each make their own way to the truth. What dark tragedy has the Numbers Coil kept out of the light for twenty-one long years?

Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers):
Marisa is captured by Red, White and Blue and they force her to reveal the location of the number coil. Mabuchi tries to stop them, but they still get away. Misuzu reveals her grandfather’s notes were stolen and might have given the thieves the information they were looking for regarding the number coils.

Red, White and Blue force Marisa to dream, so she can connect the current world to the world where the number coils are more than likely hidden. No one is sure where Mira is, but as Marisa enters her dreams, the fog rolls in on both worlds with Mira still on the opposite side. Mira desperately tries to figure out the ties between to the two worlds, but she’s stuck and unable to return to her body on the other side.

The two worlds collide as Marisa remains in her dream state. Red, White and Blue combat the water-based ghosts with liquid nitrogen successfully, while the fog reaches Mabuchi and his group. They form a plan with the group searching for something Marisa and her brother had as a back up plan against the ghosts while Mabuchi decides to take the ghosts on in his own way.

Mira’s logic finally overrides the logic of ghost world, while Mabuchi discovers that the ghosts weakness is regular water. Mira joins the fight, but many questions remain and Marisa’s brother’s death remains a mystery. Those questions are put on hold when Mira tells Mabuchi she knows where the number coil is.

Mira isn’t the only that has realized where the location of the number coil is. Red, White and Blue track it down too in the dam drainage pipe. In dramatic fashion, Mira and Mabuchi rush to the site, but Red, White and Blue have found it and Kuroda’s missing student teacher, Haruka. She is inside a nearly transparent cube holding on the number coil 189.

The coil is dangerous and Red, White and Blue are taken out. Here, Mira and Mabuchi face Sakaki’s ghost from the incident over twenty years ago. He reveals that he is the source of the original accident and the reason why the current events were happening. Sakaki’s ghost reveals the truth behind to the incident to those trapped in Dimension W.

Sakaki’s ghost wanted to protect the world that was created by Haruka and the number coil. Mira points out that the coil is deceiving Sakaki and that Haruka was illusion and the real one was the one he thought was his sister in the real world. In reality, Sakaki’s sister had died many years ago, and he saved the Haruka, though she didn’t remember Sakaki anymore.

As the truths of Dimension W and reality merge, the ghosts disappear without incident. The coil is recovered and the murder of Sakaki is pinned on the maid.

In Summary
Again, Yen Press, does an outstanding job on the presentation of this series. I seriously am in love with the glow-in-the-dark covers. I love every one of the books and I’m like a little kid with a new toy each time I get one in my hand.

Beyond the great packaging, this manga remains a great one. There is a lot of thinking involved when reading this story, especially this story arc. It takes a bit of abstract thinking, which turns out to be creative way to tell a story. However, if you are looking for a bit of light reading, this isn’t the story for you. As a reader, you must be invested in the story and want to understand it; otherwise, you’ll just bogged down by all the theories and details.

I’m looking forward to and hoping that Mira and Mabuchi’s relationship deepens and their adventures get even better.
