One Room Episode 6Little sisters indeed.

What They Say:
You are the protagonist. A new project in virtual anime from SMIRAL Animation that also brought you the “Anitore” series and “Makuranodanshi.” This time, the project is about 3 stories that develop in your (one) room.

After enjoying the first arc I found myself a bit more wary with the second as we get the introduction of “our” younger sister Natsuki visiting. Which means a whole lot of awkward fanservice, something that she puts out front and center here as we come home and she’s wearing skimpy clothes and being all provocative. It’s not unfamiliar for anime fans to be sure but it just feels like it undercuts the strength of the opening arc by dealing with such material instead of offering up more interesting “adult” relationships. Natsuki’s completely doting on her older brother and carries the conversation well as it progresses, even as she straddles her brother in bed while giving him a massage. The show gives us some minor conflict along the way as well as she gets frustrated when she doesn’t get her way in watching TV, but some of this is rooted in that we’re not taking her anywhere either. But, frankly, the character is designed just to serve her brother so it’s hard to get too into that aspect of it.

In Summary:
The strength of the animation is what’s making this arc enjoyable enough. While you can tell good stories about siblings and the potential is here for it, it’s leaning hard on the pervy side that just does not connect well and is somewhat cringe inducing at times. The only reason it doesn’t bother me more is that I’ve seen it far too many times over the years and am kind of desensitized to it. Which is not a good thing in the slightest.
