Goodbye to this Irritating Living World!

What they say:
After a traffic accident, Kazuma Sato’s disappointingly brief life was supposed to be over, but he wakes up to see a beautiful girl before him. She claims to be a goddess, Aqua, and asks if he would like to go to another world and bring only one thing with him. Kazuma decides to bring the goddess herself, and they are transported to a fantasy world filled with adventure, ruled by a demon king. Now Kazuma only wants to live in peace, but Aqua wants to solve many of this world’s problems, and the demon king will only turn a blind eye for so long…

Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers):
KonoSuba is probably one of the best anime at delivering and drawing out jokes, as proven in this episode, which begins in the mansion that Kazuma, Aqua, Darkness, and Megumin have taken up residence in. It seems that Kazuma has begun a new business venture with the once Devil King Commander and now shop worker Venir. I’m honestly shocked to see that Venir survived the last epispode. In either event, Kazuma now has a kotetsu, a Japanese table with a heating unit under it, and he’s got no intention of crawling out from its warmth.

Until Darkness and Megumin toss him, kotetsu and all, out a window.

Since he’s now stuck outside anyway, he, Aqua, Darkness, and Megumin travel to the blacksmith, where Kazuma has a new sword and new armor waiting for him. Unfortunately, he’s not strong enough to walk inside of armor that weighs over one hundred pounds. He settles for the sword—a custom made katana. Sadly, he ends up knocking over several other swords with the katana after strapping it across his lower back. The katana is reforged to be nearly half its original size. It then receives the nickname Chunchumaru from Megumin.

The rest of this episode deals mostly with a quest. Kazuma and the gang have been asked to dispatch a group of Lizard Runners, so named because they look like human-sized, bipedal lizards that run around a lot and trample stuff. It shouldn’t come as a surprise, but they’re quest ends in the most humiliating but hilarious way possible. I don’t want to ruin anything, but thanks to Aqua’s stupidity and a number of unfortunate factors that happened previously in this episode, nothing works out like Kazuma wanted it to.

One thing about this anime that I love is how no matter how many episodes come out, there’s always new material for jokes, and the jokes are always funny. It’s rare that I find myself laughing every episode, but I’ve been doing that here. Episode 6 is no different. Watching as Kazuma, Aqua, Darkness, and Megumin suffer through numerous setbacks due to how dysfunctional each of them is has been a blast. I don’t think an anime has ever been this much fun!

In Summary:
KonoSuba episode 6 is a strong contender for most hilarious episode. While there are some where the humor was done better, it’s still an excellent episode, despite feeling sort of like filler. The artwork was a little odd in this episode, but somehow, the tacky art just makes everything even more hilarious to watch.

Grade: A+
