The latest rankings have come in from Japan with the manga and light novel realm for the week ending February 12th, 2017 and there are some interesting numbers in there. One Piece adds another big chunk in its second full week sales with an addition 546,000 units to bring it to just over 2 million, which is always fun to watch build. We also get another 151,000 units of the latest My Hero Academia as we get closer to the second season arriving on TV in April. After that, everything is sub-100,000 but there are some smaller titles to check out there on the new side.
It’s the light novel side that’s a real treat to see as the 19th volume of Sword Art Online hit and moved a whopping 104,000 units in its opening week. That’s alongside the 21st Mahouka volume which did an equally strong 84,000 units, reminding why we keep seeing anime adaptations even at irregular pace for the projects as the fans will gobble up plenty of it and the ancilliary products.
