With the recent Time Bokan 24 series out there it’s little surprise there’s an attempt to make good on some past works. The latest to get announced is the spring 2000 anime spinoff series Time Bokan 2000: Kaitou Kiramekiman, which is now slotted for a Blu-ray release on April 21st, 2017 priced at 10,800 yen. Unfortunately, due to when and how this was made, there’s only standard definition materials available. So it’s getting presented that way on the single Blu-ray disc, just with higher quality encoding than DVD materials can produce.
Directed by Hiroshi Sasagawa based on the series composition by Takao Koyama, the character designs were handled by Futago Kamikita. The series was animated by Tatsunoko Production.
Original property concept: Dr. Keida has successfully invented a time machine called Time Bokan. To prove to his lab assistants that it works, he uses himself as the guinea pig. The test run was a success as it traveled through time and space within a matter of minutes. When Time Bokan returns to it’s original spot, the lab assistants were surprised to have discovered that the doctor was nowhere to be found inside the time machine’s cockpit. Only a talking parrot and a diamond were found. The lab assistants Tanpei & Junko use Time Bokan to help them find the missing doctor who’s lost somewhere in time.
