‘Godzilla: King of Monsters’ Production Start Revealed

2 min read

Godzilla 2014With a solid run for the Godzilla relaunch a couple of years ago that had director Gareth Edwards jump to Rogue One instead of a sequel, Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. revealed at the end of January that they’ve brought on Michael Doughtery to direct the sequel. The second film will be called Godzilla: King of Monsters and has a  planned for a March 22nd, 2019 debut. It’ll be followed up by Godzilla vs Kong on May 29th, 2017 as they’ll be taking from the Kong: Skull Island film out later this year to tie it all together.

with that in mind, a production start has now been revealed for it with the film set to start shooting on June 19th, 2017 in Atlanta. Casting is still something we haven’t hard much on but we did learn previously that Millie Bobby Brown is on board for it in some form.

Dougherty isn’t a well known name to be sure as his biggest film was the 2015 release of Krampus. He wrote and directed the 2007 film Trick ‘r Treat, which is getting a sequel, and was a writer on X-Men: Apocalypse as well.
