The winter 2017 anime series Little Witch Academia has its home video releases being handled by TOHO and they’ve set the plans for the two-cour series. While we’ve got a bit to go before the first volume comes out and a lot of volumes to follow, TOHO is getting things moving with a thirty-second promotional spot for the first volume to remind people to get their preorders in. The show will be getting a nine-volume release for the twenty-five episode run that begins on April 19th, 2017. The DVD s are priced at 5,800 yen while the Blu-ray’s are priced at 6,800 yen. The project saw Yoh Yoshinari directing it with Michiru Shimada handling the series composition. Shuhei Handa served as the character designer with Studio Trigger handling the animation.
The Japanese cast includes Megumi Han as Atsuko “Akko” Kagari, Fumiko Orikasa as Lotte Yanson, Michiyo Murase as Sucy Manbavaran, Yōko Hikasa as Diana Cavendish, Arisa Shida as Amanda O’Neill, Rie Murakawa as Constanze von Braunschbank Albrechtsberger, Reina Ueda as Jasminka Antonenko and Noriko Hidaka as Shiny Chariot.
The opening song is “Shiny Ray” from YURiKA while Yuiko Ohara will be performing the ending theme song, “Hoshi wo Tadoreba.”
Plot concept: The show’s story revolves around Akko, who as a child watched the witch Shiny Chariot perform a show, and from then on dreamed of becoming a witch. She enters the Luna Nova Academy, a school for witches that Shiny Chariot attended. In this new town she meets new friends and starts a new school life. At the school she has lessons on riding brooms and the wonder of magic, but Akko and her friends Lotte and Sucy keep getting wrapped up in tumultuous events!
