Hanabee Schedules ‘God Eater’ Anime Release

2 min read

God Eater Hulu HeaderWhile Aniplex USA is handling the home video release of the God Eater series domestically, Hanabee picked up the Australian rights for it back in August 2015 – but never streamed it even though they announced that they would. They’re now shifting into home video release mode as they’ve now set the first volume on separate DVD and Blu-ray releases for an April 13th, 2017 debut priced at $49.99 for either format. Details are slim, but it’s expected to be a bilingual release like the US release is. Check out our review of the first US Blu-ray release and the second Blu-ray release.

Handled by Bang Zoom! Entertainment, Tony Oliver is serving as the ADR director and the cast includes:

  • Robbie Daymond as Lenka Utsugi
  • Cherami Leigh as Alisa Illinichina Amiella
  • Crispin Freeman as Soma Schicksal
  • Kyle Hebert as Lindow Amamiya
  • Lucien Dodge as Kota Fujiki
  • Mary Elizabeth McGlynn as Tsubaki Amamiya
  • Michelle Ruff as Sakuya Tachibana
  • Patrick Seitz as Johannes von Schicksal
  • Spike Spencer as Paylor Sakaki
  • Wendee Lee as Aisha Gauche

The show was directed by Takayuki Hirao. Hirao has a solid background to be sure and has done work for the games, but he also worked on the Gyo OVA, which is hilariously vicious, as well as the fifth installment of the Garden of Sinners project. The project has also brought on board Keita Shimizu to handle the character designs for the series. The cast includes Ryuichi Kijima as Renka Utsugi, Hiroaki Hirata as Lindow Amamiya, Maaya Sakamoto as Alisa Illinichina Amiella, Kazuya Nakai as Soma Schicksal, Daisuke Sakaguchi as Kota Fujiki and Sayaka Ohara as Sakuya.

Plot concept: In the early 2050s, unknown life forms called “Oracle Cells” began their uncontrolled consumption of all life on Earth. Their ravenous appetite and remarkable adaptability earned them first dread, then awe, and finally the name Aragami, the “Mad Gods.” In the face of an enemy completely immune to conventional weapons, urban civilization collapsed, and each day humanity was driven further and further toward extinction.

The year is now 2071… the domain of the mad gods lies here in the Far East.

One single ray of hope remains for humanity. Following the development of “God Arcs” — living weapons which incorporate Oracle Cells — their wielders are organized into an elite force.

In a world ravaged by mad gods, these “God Eaters” fight a desperate war…
