What They Say
All of the Trinity Seven members have finally gathered as the fierce battle between Arata and the demon Hijiri finally reaches its finale! But there’s no rest for the weary as a new development quickly springs up, and this time the stage is set in Sky Library!! Since ancient times, it has existed in the open skies, presiding over all the wisdom of the world. Arata and the gang head there to investigate, but…huh? Why is Akio suddenly so small?! Volume 7 of this romantic comedy and sometimes-serious wizard school story is full of mysteries like this!!
Content: (please note that content portions of this review contains spoilers):
Being a Demon Lord Candidate, Hijiri is super-powered and it takes all the Trinity mages and Arata utilizing their Thema to compete with her. But even with all that, the tide of battle shifts repeatedly, giving each side the upper hand briefly before shifting back to the other. Just when it looks like Arata will be defeated as his magic has almost completely been used up, he pairs with Lilith and together they release the Meteor Dragonar blast!
It proves to be enough to defeat Hijiri, but it shouldn’t have considering Arata was almost out of magic. He doesn’t have time to dwell on that fact as Hijiri begins to waste away. Quickly going to her side, Arata finally learns what happened to Hijiri when she disappeared from the world. Hijiri was lost in an empty void, looking at the world from a space she couldn’t escape. Just before she was about to disappear into nothingness, the future of the world was revealed to her. In that future, Arata had become the Demon Lord and used the Trinity Seven to destroy the world.
With the threat of the world being destroyed by her beloved Arata, Hijiri decided to join Iscariot and fight against Arata and Trinity Seven. This creates an interesting dilemma. Did Hijiri see the future where Arata destroys the world, or did Iscariot trick her so they can use her as a tool?
Just before Hijiri fades away forever, a mage from Iscariot appears and steals away again. Knowing that she is still alive, only reignites the fire in Arata. His goal to save Hijiri from Iscariot hasn’t changed, but now he knows that he must tread his path carefully or risk losing himself to the Demon Lord’s power and ultimately destroying the world. But what about Lilith’s power? Does her ability to release the Meteor Dragonar power mean that she too is a Demon Lord Candidate?
In Summary
While the previous volume revealed that there are more Demon Lord Candidates than just Arata, this volume showcases a mega battle between Demon Lord Candidates Arata and Hijiri. Hijiri’s greater control of magic shows that Arata still has a lot to learn. However, Hijiri’s revelation that she saw a future where Arata becomes the Demon Lord and destroys the world will likely cause some strife among the Trinity Seven. Will some of them continue to support Arata while others continue to act as his oversight committee or will they all recognize Arata’s dangerous potential and convince the academy principal to incarcerate or destroy Arata?
