‘Chiruran: Nibun no Ichi’ Japanese Anime DVD Release Scheduled

chiruran-nibun-no-ichi-visualThe home video release plans for the winter 2017 anime series Chiruran Nibun no Ichi has been set and it follows what we see for a lot of short form shows. The series is getting a DVD-only release that will land on May 26th, 2017 priced at 5,184 yen. Fumie Moroi is directing with Mutsuaki Murata handling the character designs. It’s being animated at LandQ Studios.

The Japanese cast for the series includes Tatsuhisa Suzuki as Toshizō Hijikata, Yuichiro Umehara as Shinpachi Nagakura, Ryohei Kimura as Hajime Saitō, Tsubasa Yonaga as Sōji Okita, Shouta Aoi as Sanosuke Harada, Wataru Takagi as Isami Kondō, Makoto Furukawa as Heisuke Tōdō, Fukushi Ochiai as Kai Shimada, Showtaro Morikubo as Keisuke Yamanami and Katsuyuki Konishi as Kamo Serizawa.

The opening song “Boku no Te ni Fureruna” from Kami-sama, Boku wa Kizuite Shimatta.

Plot concept: In 1912, a young woman tracks down the elderly Nagakura Shinpachi, determined to hear the true story of the Demon of the Shinsengumi, the Vice Commander Hijikata Toshizou. Hijikata’s story begins in 1859, when he is a violent young man that is honing his sword skills while peddling his family’s medicine. Soon, in his quest to find stronger people to fight, Hijikata starts to come into contact with others who will eventually be his comrades in the Shinsengumi. The first one to make an impression on the brash young man is Kondo Isami, who proves to be a better fighter than Hijikata…
