The next winter 2017 anime series to get picked up for distribution is Chaos;Child, which is part of the Crunchyroll and Funimation partnership. The Crunchyroll simulcast for the series will debut on January 11th, 2017 at 12:00pm ET for members with it being open to them worldwide outside of Asia. The Funimation SimulDub will premiere on January 31st, 2017 at 9:30pm ET for their members. The cast and production team for the dub will be revealed at a later date.
The series was animated by Silver Link. Masato Jinbo directed the show and handled the series composition, something you don’t see too often, with Kazuyuki Yamayoshi handling the character design.
The Japanese cast includes Sumire Uesaka as Serika Onoe, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Takuru Miyashiro, Sarah Emi Bridcutt as Nono Kurusu, Suzuko Mimori as Hinae Arimura, Inori Minase as Uki Yamazoe, Sayaka Nakaya as Hana Kazuki, Asami Sanada as Mio Kunosato, Yuuki Fujiwara as Shinji Itou, Atsushi Abe as Masashi Kawahara, Yumi Hara as Yui Tachibana, Kokoro Kikuchi as Yuito Tachibana, Takuya Kirimoto as Takeshi Shinjou, Kujira as Katsuko Momose, Tomoyuki Shimura as Hisashi Sakuma and Masayuki Katou as Shuuichi Wakui.
The opening theme song is “Uncontrollable” by Kanako Itou while “Chaos Syndrome” will be the ending theeme song by Konomi Suzuki.
The Chaos;Head anime has been previously licensed and release by FUNimation in North America. Other properties in this “sci-fi adventure” grouping include Steins;Gate and Robotics;Notes.
Plot concept: Described as a “psychological suspense” story, ChäoS;Child takes place in October 2015, six years after the events of ChäoS;HEAd. Abnormal events begin to occur in the Shibuya district, including mysterious deaths.
